17.05.2024

Panerai presents the new Submersible GMT Luna Rossa Titanio PAM01507 at Watches and Wonders 2024 - including the new Swiss Super-LumiNova® Grade X2!

After becoming an official sponsor of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli for the first time in 2019, Panerai has strengthened its nautical ties with the sailing team during the 36th America's Cup presented by Prada, which will be held in the Hauraki Gulf of Auckland in 2021. This partnership is a natural evolution for a brand like Panerai, which is committed to performance and technological innovation. Over the six years of this partnership, Panerai has developed a dedicated collection of technically advanced watches for each year of preparation for this ultimate challenge, inspired either by the technologies and materials of the America's Cup or by the insights and needs of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team.

The new Submersible GMT Luna Rossa Titanio PAM01507 is a tribute to the official America's Cup races, taking place in Barcelona between August and October 2024.

During Watches and Wonders 2024, the PAM01507 was presented as a pioneering watch with the all new Swiss Super-LumiNova® Grade X2 on indices and hour hand, an enhanced grade that offers 10 to 40% higher luminosity (depending on the color) compared to Grade X1 after 180 minutes in the dark. The new timepiece has a 42mm case made of Grade 5 titanium, which is known for its remarkable lightness and strength as it is 40% lighter and 60% harder than stainless steel. Titanium embodies the innovative spirit of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team and is also one of the materials used in the construction of the Luna Rossa yacht. Thanks to the continuous innovation of the Laboratorio di Idee at the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel, it combines resistance with cutting-edge technology.

To satisfy Panerai's demanding requirements, the watch, which is water-resistant to 50 bar (~500 meters), has undergone rigorous testing, subjecting it to pressures up to 25% higher than the guaranteed water-resistance value. The improved value is a significant milestone in an area closely linked to Panerai's heritage, making the Maison the watch of choice again and again.

At the heart of the PAM01507 is the P.900/GMT24H automatic movement, a caliber renowned for its reliability with a power reserve of 3 days. The balance, which oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, is held securely in place by a balance cock. The caliber is equipped with a stop-seconds function that enables precise time setting. The GMT complication with 24-hour display pays homage to the Maison's heritage and is reminiscent of some of the first models developed in the early 2000s. This feature adds a new dimension of usability to the watch, especially for those working with multiple time zones.

The GMT hand, inspired by the sails of the Luna Rossa sailing team, is combined with a blue, sun-brushed dial and flange proudly featuring a print of the Luna Rossa sail. In addition, the watch features a unidirectional rotating titanium bezel with a blue matte ceramic disk known for its high scratch resistance. This is essential to withstand impacts or accidental contact with various objects to which the bezel is normally exposed. The indices and hour hand are accented with green lacquer, a deliberate choice that recalls the luminosity of Super-LumiNova® Grade X2, while Super-LumiNova® Grade X1 illuminates the blue-accented minute hands and dots on the bezel.

The Submersible GMT Luna Rossa Titanio PAM01507 will be available exclusively in boutiques from September 2024.
